I bought this at a pawn shop, not because I wanted or needed it, but because...
...well look at it, I couldn't imagine a future in which I didn't impulse buy a zebra explorer bass.
Unfortunately, I have quite a few guitars, and am short on space. It's terribly inconvenient to have a bass the size of a small country that you don't really play.
As far as the actual instrument goes.
-Nice enough bass. It's hard to fuck up something so simple. It's not MIM Fender level or anything, but it's pretty decent all said.
-Never changed the strings (Ba$$ $tring$), it sounds pretty good though. It has a fucking massive body, so I imagine it will be pretty loud with proper strings.
-I put a red cliplock on it. Looks awesome. Better pictures forthcoming soon.
-Most of the price is shipping this. This thing is fucking huge.
-It's one of those late 70s/early 80s MIJ copy brands "Arbor". Don't know much about them, saw Ron Jarzombek had one in his rig rundown along with all his other gnarly ghetto gear. So you know, there is some cred there or something.
-Pickup probably sucks. It has pawnshop bass strings, those aren't even hygenic to touch man, I didn't really plug it in. It sounded good acoustically though, keeping in mind the strings were gnarly.
-All said, the quality is totally reasonable for $100. It's not bad at all. With a nice pickup it would probably suffice for all kinds of purposes, especially if you don't have a bass and want one to experiment on. The real reason you want to own this though is because it looks outrageous.
-Will probably ship neck and body detached from one another. This thing is fucking huge.
-Explorer basses are fun as fuck to play. Literally fun. as. fuck.
Better pictures forthcoming once I list it on other sites, just thought I would see if any bros here wanted it. Forget how the frets are.
Man, if only I needed another bass.
