I carpool with my friend/coworker. He decided to stop at Whataburger, I didn't get anything, so we're waiting in the line, and he's like "Adam, I'm not feeling too good", and I just thought it was because of the cold he'd been complaining about. So he gets his food, and he's like "I may need you to drive, everything is blurry"... So he parks, and I get out of the truck to hop in the drivers seat. I get around to his side of the car, and he starts acting real weird, I didn't know what to think, and then he lost control of his leg, and it floored the gas pedal on the truck. Luckily it was in neutral, but he rapped it off the rev limiter for 10 seconds before I could get my brain out of panic mode and get to the key and shut the truck off. So I shut the truck off, and he pisses himself. He's got a completely blank look on his face, I had no clue what was going on, but I dumped all the crap out of his center console, raised it up, and dragged his ass to the passenger seat.
So I'm in the truck, I'm driving to the hospital at this point, still don't know wtf is going on. He's still flopping around, he goes in and out of consciousness and flopping around. On the way, he's having another episode, and he pukes all over himself. Next thing I know, he's done puking and he's all of a sudden back, and he insists I don't take him to the ER because he can't afford it He has me drive him home, and lets me use his truck to go back to work. Now that I'm at work, I've been looking it up, and realized what I witnessed was multiple seizures. He had told me it was probably because of the new blood pressure meds he was taking, but through my research, and talking to my mom, who works at a hospital in Dallas, thats an impossible scenario. I'm thinking it might be epilepsy, but I don't know. I really need to talk to him, and convince him to get on the PPO instead of the HSA, he's going to need it.
Anyone else have any suggestions? I feel bad now because he's home alone, and I'm afraid it might happen again and he hurts himself. There was a second while this was all happening that I actually thought he might have died! It was so freaky, and scary, and he's absurdly lucky I was in the truck with him, at the very least he could have popped the motor on his truck if his foot stayed planted on the gas pedal like that.
You should have driven him straight to the ER, if not call an ambulance. You can't be refused at the ER because of your inability to pay, and there is obviously something seriously wrong.
