So, I joined a gym back in December, have been hitting the treadmill + personal trainer for several weeks now, and now I think I can run a half marathon
But seriously, there's a big run in town in April that a bunch of my buddies from work are participating in, and I need some training tips. I've got a plan here from Runner's World:
The Runner's World.com Ultimate Half Marathon Training Plan
Any other good ideas?
My only advice is if you don't normally run 10+ miles, build up your mileage and your training slowly.
I can't remember the name of the half marathon training program I did, but I was running only 3 days a week, with short-ish runs (never more than 6 miles, I think) on Tues and Thurs, and the long ones on Saturday. I was just coming off an injury when I started my training, so I had to finish it in half the normal time, adding 2 miles to my long run every Saturday. The regular length plan increased the mileage very gently, with an increase one week, a small decrease the next, an increase the next, etc.
