And now I have a trail bike.

It's a Cannondale Scalpel 29'er. I'm about to take it for a rather short initial ride, because my legs are still junk from this morning.

Just went for a quick zip. It's nowhere near as nice on the pavement as the Raleigh is, but the looparound at the middle of this route is a big open sand pit. We (Josh and I) went down it this morning, and HOLY BALLS what a night and day difference between the hybrid and this thing. I can't wait to get it out on a bunch of trails tomorrow.

I love the lockout (never had one before), but can't fucking stand toe clips of any kind, so those are coming off. I think ~15 years of growing up BMXing has a lot to do with it.

    Toe clips =

And how does that work on the bike carrier? I'm thinking not at all? For my BMX, I have to flip it upside down and hang it by the downtube instead.

It works, but it takes some creativity. The rear section fits fine, but the lower shock is juuust a bit too far forward. I got it on there rock solid (I had a ~40 mile drive down the highway home with it), but at some point I'll probably pick up a better carrier that fits it. I'm a bit on the fuckin' broke side after the bike-buying-frenzy I've had in the last week or so.

This pic makes it look a lot crazier than it is, though. It just hangs off to one side a bit more than the other.
