Met with my orthopedist Thursday and I was able to get him to perform surgery on my right wrist on March 7th coming. Looking at the xrays of my arthritic right wrist from Thursday and from 4 years ago, the damage has gotten worse BUT..the arthritis has not spread. So, they are going to do a few things: make a small incision in my right arm and take a plug of bone out of one of the bones. Then, they are going to put that plug in the space between the 3 wrist bones that are grinding against each other, and pin it all together. That should, in a few months, leave me with 1 big bone and not three smaller bones.
Cast for 2 months after surgery, pins out 3 months after initial surgery, and within a year I should be completely pain free and still have the flexibility I have now (which is enough for guitar and piano, and good enough for karate).
This is fantastic news as far as I am concerned, as it will let me play the guitar again, which I haven't been able to do for more than a few minutes a week (when I bother these days) for about 5 years now. Might have to sell a synth or two and get a Mike Shannon Soloist for Christmas! lol
