...for the first time in over ten years. Went for another one this morning, as well. There are a few observations I've made that I didn't quite anticipate:
1. I greatly overestimated my stamina. I figured I could go an entire mile without needing to slow down or stop, but I could only do about half that before wanting to curl up on the side of the road and pass out.
2. I noticed that a little bit of my stamina issue was due to my mouth getting dry and making it a little harder to breathe. What's a good way to combat this without having to carry a water bottle with me? A Camelback full of beer, right?
3. Exercise makes me hungry. I have a strange appetite, and don't usually get hungry until around 4pm most days. Today I woke up super hungry, ate a small breakfast, went for a run, and now I'm hungry again.
Overall, I feel pretty good about it, despite my embarrassing lack of stamina. Excited to keep this up and not be a fat, lazy bastard anymore.
Congrats! I need to do this, too. I always say I will but never do. Told my kids that we should go for combo walks/jogs but we haven't yet. They're both in soccer so they get plenty of running time.
I never wanted to get to the day where my kids could beat me running. Have no idea if they can, but they probably can. So time to get off my ass & get started.
I think I'm worse off than you, Shawn, stamina-wise. I'd maybe get a block before having to drop to a walk for a block, then jog, then walk, etc...
