Had to do it. Too many other "new bike day" threads.
Been REALLY wanting a dj bike but I also wanted more than 1 gear. I wanted something that can do dirt, street and trials type stuff and this fits the bill. Been eyeballing this GT on their site for a while and just discovered that a local shop had one in stock. Checked it out today and after about 2 hours of kicking the tires and a test ride, I had to have it. Also helped that they had the price WAY reduced since it's a 2015 model.
Such a different beast then I'm use too. It's bigger than my 24" BMX bikes but it's shorter. If that makes any sense. It's like a mini MTB that you can throw around.
Figured this makes a good platform for some mega upgrades. The pedals were the first thing to go. Tossed on a set of the trusty ole' Stolen Bike Co pedals I have. The brake levers are ugly as all fuck and too long. Got some "trigger" BMX style levers that I'm going to try. I wanted some handle bars with more of a rise to them but the shop didn't have any wide enough for me. So hopefully I'll have some by Monday. Going for at least 2" more in rise on the bars. Maybe 3" with a 30" width. Other then that, this winter I'll probably snag a fork with a but more throw to it. This one is only 80mm. Gonna snag a new headset to replace the generic stock one also. And the grips are fucking abysmal and WAY too short. But that's an easy fix.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll update this thread as I progress on it.
