Been doing a lot of lurking over the past few days so I figure an intro is in order. I started listening to heavy shit(Kiss, Sabbath, Priest) when I was 8 in '74, yup, I'm old, lol! I started playing in '85, however I'm no shredder, to be quite honest I can be rather lazy and do not have the discipline or desire to become one. I'm perfectly happy on the rhythm end of things, pounding out brutality with the drums and bass is where I'm at home. 1st band was a cover band while I was in Korea in the late 80's, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, with some Priest thrown in. Once I was back in the states in '90 I formed a band, we played a bunch of metal covers and our own material. It didn't take long and we were doing all original material, never got famous nor signed, but god damn, we had fun! Our "fun" eventually got in the way and we imploded. Without writing a novel, the implosion was bad enough that I haven't touched a guitar in 8 years. I did most of the writing in the band and the music was always in my head. As of late it has become overpowering and it's time to play again. Time to get the music out of my head and into reality, however, this time it's for me, no band. If it goes somewhere, great, if not, great, it's just something I got to do. For now the plan is to get the rust off, get a new rig(I sold most of my gear after the implosion)and learn how to record. Once I get some stuff recorded I'll be collaborating via the web with some musicians I have kept in touch with and my oldest son (23) will be playing drums.
Currently my rig is crap, lol! I did just pick up a nice Jackson JRR94 that'll work for now. Once I got it strung and set up the way I like it I'm very happy with it. I'm running it into a Digitech RP500 that I picked up for next to nothing, into headphones. Pretty shitty, but it works good enough for me to get back into the groove while I figure out what direction I want to go with my new rig. Sorry for writing a novel and thanks if you read it all, lol!
Great intro! Welcome to the forum!
