About three months ago, I picked up my guitar for the first time in 18 years! I played in a number of death metal/metalcore bands for years before that, and loved it. The full-time job I've been working, plus my second career leaves little to no time for bands. I'll be retiring from my full-time job in a few years, and will have the time and freedom for a band and want to start another up then. My brother is a bassist and already wants in. I still have friends in the scene, so I don't think it will be hard to gather the members.
Felt like I had two Mickey Mouse hands when I first started playing again, and it was a bit discouraging, but believe it or not, I'm close to being back up to speed already, (Though my playing isn't yet as clean as I'd like it to be) and I've already written a couple of kick-ass tunes. I've also learned that I'm not as young as I used to be! Used to practice for a minimum of 2 hours a day, and now, my arthritis kicks in in my hands at 30-minutes to an hour and my back starts getting sore! Sucks to get old.
I'm using my old Alvarez Dana. Its still in perfect shape and back in the early 90s I had some custom work done to it by a local guy, Eddy Estrada, who did some internal work and switched the pick-ups out with some better Jackson pick ups. I've always wanted an Ibanez JS and plan to trade up in the coming years. The axe has to be black!
I'm using my old Peavey Renown amp, which is 450 watts and a Boss Metalzone. Yeah, I know, my stuff is old, but so am I!
