New to the forum. Been playing guitar for a little over 10 years. I'm currently 21 years old (in fact it was my birthday on Tuesday). Been running around buying all sorts of new gear in hopes of joining a band.
Me and a few buddies had some small project bands back home, but unfortunately our super-talented drummer got taken away by a much more popular band and has moved on to bigger and better things. Since then I have found it very hard to get back into the band scene. Played regularly from age 10 until about 20, and lost some of my mojo over the last year between work and school. Starting to get back into playing and upgrading a lot of my gear.
Currently my main guitar is a B.C. Rich Warlock Bronze series that I have had since I was about 14. Still plays hard. Super heavy duty guitar, have never regretted buying it, but you can definitely tell it's a B.C. Rich. Muddy sounding pickups with a "nothing-special" sound to them. Love the style and durability of the body and the neck of my guitar, was definitely the right choice to learn with, but I'm past the learning point and can now notice the lack of sound quality of the pickups. Looking to upgrade to a set of EMG 57/66's this week. Fell in love with these pickups in the store. Played for over 2 hours last night at guitar center. When I got home I about threw-up having to go back to my own pickups lol.
Will also need to update my amp. Currently running a Line6 Spyder III, which is a great beginner amp! But as I'm getting older and developing my ear more I am noticing there is a very noticeable limit to what digital amps can do on their own. If anyone has any suggestions on a good, non-digital (or maybe half digital), amp that would be good enough to take to small venues on stage, and still be portable enough to practice at home with, I would really appreciate some input!
Metal bands are a rare sight where I live. Everyone loves them, but no one wants to be in one. It makes it very difficult to get advice and tips, so if anyone wants to chat I am always available!
I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota if anyone nearby would like to Jam sometime.
I love just about every genre of rock and metal and can play a wide range of songs from Metallica, to 3 Doors Down, to Deathklock, to Bullet For My Valentine and everything in between lol.
Looking forward to being a part of the forum! Sorry for writing a book!
