Hello! Jim here. I have joined to fan the flames of my passion for metal, guitar and music in general.
I'm a Brit living in Stockholm. I am racing towards the end of my 30s but I still feel like I did when I was a teenager...and I still wear the same kind of clothes and listen to the same kind of music. I have mellowed a bit, though, and have spent a few years playing in rock/pop and blues bands. I pretty much split my music between blues/jazz and metal. I never really liked rock/pop stuff, although playing it is ok and it keeps my musical skills alive.
In my spare time, I fix guitars, make guitars, fix pedals, make pedals and so on. I used to do it a lot more before parenthood came along, but I still get a guitar or two on my workbench every now and then.
Instrument-wise, I mostly play bass. I have an old Ibanez SR1205 - not the new ones, but the original ones from the mid-1990s. It is great and I adore it and it will probably be buried with me. I liked it so much I bought the SR1206 to join it. For blues, I have a Warmoth fretless Jazz V and a Warmoth/Firecreek P5. They go into a Gallien Krueger MB Fusion 500 and GK 1x15" and 2x10" cabs.
For metal guitar, I have an ESP Eclipse CTM, an ESP M-II that really needs a refret and a Jackson Dinky that I put together from parts. I have a Warmoth Superstrat on its way too. For amps, I have a Marshall 9001 preamp into a 9005 power amp and a 2x12 cab, although the preamp will be going in my studio rack for recording; the other stuff is mostly in storage, waiting for when they are needed.
For blues stuff, I have a Strat and a Tele that I made from unfinished parts. The Strat is white and the Tele I stained red and coated with shellac.
I can get photos up at some point in the next few weeks and I shall do a build diary of the Warmoth Strat when the parts get here.
Thanks for reading - see you around!
