After 25 years on the road with work i have retired on medical grounds and i'm coming back to being a musician. I've been playing guitar since 1980 and since 1990 i've been ignoring my lack of ability and progress because i was too damn busy at work and bringing up kids.
They're all grown up now and i gave up work in February so now i've got all the time in the world to go back to Guitar School (Online) and become the player i have always wanted to be. My fingers still know their way around the board and i can play some stuff pretty well but my knowledge is through the floor so i'm going back to the beginning and starting again with everything.
I sold all my kit last month, which was mainly vintage styled gear, set up for live work and didn't really lend itself to playing better or playing the music or the style i want to.
I've bought a Jackson Soloist and fitted EMG 81 (Neck) and 85 (Bridge) to it. Fairly soon i will be fitting a Boost (AB220), Mid Boost (SPC) and Treble Boost (RPC) and also i will be upgrading the tremolo as and when i can.
I've also bought a Vox VT20+ amp and i'm using the onboard effects mainly because i'm not performing anything yet and i don't have tons of room at home so one guitar and one lead into a small amp really helps right now. I may relent to using a looper at some point but that's new territory for me so it's not a plan as such. The amp has 8 user channels i can save to and then i can get a footswitch which will recall them, should i need that so this will do me for now. I play at home (Noise friendly) and i'm going to start recording at home (When i can figure out how) so this amp is enough for what i need.
Eventually when i do step back out and perform again, i will have a look at Fractal / Kemper etc. and without doubt, i will be using the Marshall 50/50 Power amp i used to have years ago.
I hope i can add something meaningful to this community in terms of music and whatever help or knowledge i can offer.
