There is some pretty concrete historical evidence that there were various Jewish magicians and "sons of god" running around at that time.

It's essentially the idea that Jesus was somewhat of an shamanic antinomian charlatan figure who was used perceived-supernatural acts to challenge both the contemporary Jewish and Roman authority structures, while himself being from some sort of mystic gnostic jewish background. For example, at the time, "son of god" was a title the emperors used to instill a sense of divine authority.

Have you done much research into the Jesus as a magician theory? Obviously the Morton Smith book is the primary work for the theory, but I always thought it was interesting how language in the early codices for the gospels use language such as "son of man" and "son of god" that supports the magician theory.

I think I'd have to be crazy lucky to find one for that price over in the UK :(
The only other thing I really want at the moment is to snag an old Patrick Eggle Berlin. I played a 1993 and it was honestly better than any PRS I've ever touched. (Probably didn't look as nice though).

Cool, thanks for the help. There is an SA in a shop near me, so I think I'll go and try it, then see if they will order me a Freeway Classic. To be honest the thing that turned me on to them was Alex Machacek using one in his pentatonic DVD, and John McLaughlin using them live recently.

Hi dude, I saw a picture of a few of your heritage guitars. But at the back of the photo there was a Godin. Is it a Freeway? If so, what are your thoughts on it? I've had GAS for the Freeway classic (as I don't need the synth access). So any thoughts on it would be a help. Thanks.

Yeah, I figured theres a good chance you had probably seen it. The finish is a little bright for even my tastes

I did pass on the 750xl, just wasn't looking for another basswood guitar. Can't afford to have my funds tied up in guitars when the next AT comes along  I did actually get another cheapo beater guitar to fill the void while the AT is gone getting refreted. Definitely something up your alley :metal:, colorwise and aesthetically, not a jackson, but the styling is really similar. You'll have to check out the NGD when it comes, although for all I know you saw it on ebay already

Speaking of the AT, I have really gone balls to the wall on rehauling it. I went as far as ordering a new Schaller Floyd Rose i($200 Ouch), even though it wasn't really necessary  Gonna skip the intermidiary step of fret leveling/crowning and just shell out for a full stainless steel refret, cause it'll be cheaper in the long run. Speaking of which, what is the stock fret size?

Yeah, I'm definitely a J-bass fan. My Fender Jazz Bass V would still be my main bass if I didn't need a 6-string bass now. P-basses have their uses, but not for me

Ah yes, now I recognize those tuners. Cool stuff. Yeah, I've always been more of a Fender bass fan. They're just so warm and big sounding, but still really clear and bright when needed.

Most of the Megadeth feels like more and more of the same. It's OK but it doesn;t get me too excited. I have the same issue, though much less so, with the Heaven and Hell CD. Living Colour sounds like they still want to push the envelope and a I love that.

It's been in heavy rotation in my car's CD player since I got it. I'm really liking it a lot. A lot more than the new Megadeth.
