Default New five-string tuning...

Currently have my five string bass tuned...

C1 G1, C2, G2, C3

...and so far it's pretty badass! Really versatile...

Just remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Yea, I used to have mine tuned similar to that, but I honestly couldn't do much with it at the time. I also knew zero theory, so I was pretty much worthless as a musician back then. Then one day I thought I would be creative and tune it like a 6 string, but taking off the low B....it was nifty...

I can see what you mean about that being versatile though...I should try that. Since I got my 6 string, my 5 has been sitting in the corner, crying from lack of attention.

I've been playing bass (4 string) for 3 years but am recently, well 4 month, into death/black metal and the songs I play in my band demand more fast strumming than I'm used to. I'm doing fine with it, but sometimes some songs I like are tuned low, which is fine I like drop D but the lower and least tight the strings the harder it is for me to strum fast, how do you guys deal with that?

Maybe play closer to the bridge and with a slightly lighter touch?
