My stick has passive pickups and a stereo output. The bass side goes to one channel and the treble side goes to the other channel (one goes to tip, the other to ring, i forget which is which offhand). They each have a volume knob. What I want to do is to install a little switch somewhere on the pickup housing and have it switch between stereo and mono. Is it as simple installing a switch? If so, what would I wire it like? I can't find any diagrams that really work. Or, would something like this really only work with active pickups (I know my old stick with EMGs had this switch on it, stock)?
I was thinking the switch would have to intercept one of the pickups and send it over to the other channel -- like taking the ring output and wiring the switch so it send the signal to the tip as well as the regular tip signal, and just using the tip side volume control to control the volume.
Here's what I'm working with, btw.
It seems to me like a simple switch that takes the signal normally going to the ring and making it switchable between ring and tip is all you'd need, but I couldn't tell you what kind of switch you'd need specifically, or whether or not it would actually work (don't see why it wouldn't, though).
