I've been thinking it for some time now, but I'm ready to bite the bullet on picking up a bass. Money is definitely a concern, so keep that in mind with the recommendations. I can't give a specific budget just yet, but I definitely could use the recommendations as a base point to start my own research
I'll be using it 100% for recording. It's going to be DI'd into Logic, and mutilated from there. Ultimately, I just need something that isn't pitch shifted guitar, or pos midi bass.
5 string is bonus points, but not 100% necessary. I guess ultimately I'm looking for a "metal" bass, but I'd pick a more versatile bass that gets 90% of multiple tones than a bass that does one tone extremely well.
Thanks in advance, dudes!
