Hi bass players!
Just a quick question: is it possible to tune down a 5 string bass to G (G,C,F,A#,D#) without fudging up the intonation or somehow else messing with the bass too much?
I suppose that I will need a larger string gauge. Any suggestions how large?
(If anyone wants to know the reason then the reason is that I have a guitar in C and I want to have an open C string + I want to get lower than that C string ).
I tuned down to F# before, with a .165. I mean, I've done it with a .130 but it wasn't pleasant So, basically, you're going to have to find some hard-to-find strings, probably individual strings.
And, regardless, you're going to have to adjust the intonation and truss rod.
