I've just upgraded a bunch of my recording-related stuff, and I've been feeling for a while that, from a creative standpoint, I'm in dire need of a bass. Unfortunately, I can't afford anything particularly nice right now, so I've been playing around with the idea of picking up a cheap 5-string. I've played around on some of the lower-end Ibanez stuff, and I don't like the way those sound, and the ones I've played have been set up pretty badly, too.
There's a Squier Affinity Jazz Bass V at my store that I really like the neck on, and it sounds decent...and with my employee discount, it's under $150 brand new. Definitely needs a string upgrade (the low B string is too light, but sounds like it'd be pretty solid with the right gauge), but overall, it sounds and feels pretty good.
Anyone have any experience with these to share?
