I have two basses. One of them is an Ibanez BTB475, which I have had for two years now. The other is a new Dingwall Z2-6. I can safely say that the Dingwall is a much better instrument, no comparison. Even having one more string than I was used to, the Dingwall was so much easier to play, right from the start. You should really check them out. There are no dealers in Scandinavia, but they ship worldwide (that's how I got mine). If you're on a budget, the ABZ-6 is their cheapest sixer; otherwise, the Z-series (Z1, Z2, Z3) are truly exceptional instruments.

Wirelessly posted

I bought a btb 6 string. The stock pickups are horrendous to the point where i didnt try using the instrument for anything. The pickup routes are an odd size making changing the pickups require routing. I did just that and put emg 45dc pickups in. Lo and behold it sounds better so far as balanced eq, but it's still unusable to me. There is no attack or note separation. The fender jazz bass that is laying around sounds a million times clearer and just rocks all around.

I'll be trying nordstrand big singles in the btb eventually, but it could be money in the toilet again and i'm really just sick of trying.

Right now i'm putting dimarzios in a cheap ibanez p+j just so i have something to use that works in a mix.

My advice is to just get a cheap as dirt jazz bass, put some good pickups and strings on/in it and enjoy because it is the best sound overall and the most versatile.
