This showed up in the mail today, from the frozen north:

Inside was the blackest of black blacknesses:

Also, this, which was pretty black, too:

...which contained this, which was not:

The inside of the case, however, was.

I've only fucked with it for a few minutes so far - Beard warned me it needed a new set of strings (which it does) and that I'd probably want to set it up (which I'll tweak it, but it's not bad). I'm about to run out to meet a buddy for drinks, but I'll spend some more time with it tomorrow.

Is it as nice as the Sherm'? Probably not - that bass was awesome. But it sounds fucking awesome, plays really well, I dig how it looks, and while I haven't completely worked out the controls yet, it does seem to be a better fit for me than the Sherman was. Either way, change is good, and I'm glad Beard has that bass.

Holy shit you actually made your bed.

    Edit: Sort of.

    Solid bass, sir.

    ghetto box!

yeah dude, once you get some nice string on it, it'll shine a lot more than it does right now. i haven't been gigging it so a set of strings never made it on.

the knobs, one is master volume, one is a pickup selector, and the other is master tone i think.

Yep. Volume, four-way pickup selector (neck-both parallel-both series-bridge) and master passive tone.

    The switch activates a top-end rolloff/midrange switch.

Excellent! You'll need a super long set of strings. D'Addarios aren't long enough.

Dingwall has their own strings, but I used Circle K & they sound fantastic.
    THIS SET, specifically.
Using the traditional tensioned strings on a fanned frets instruments actually translates to balanced tension.
