I ventured out to the new big box store, as I've never been. I also know they stock EBMM, so I decided to try out a couple 'rays. The first one was the EBMM sterling 4, with the blade and 4-knob layout. The action was a mile high, so I didn't spend too much time on it.
They had a Sterling 4 w/ V/B/T in natural with a lot of figuring going on with the maple neck and board: . Dreamboat. Gorgeous. Wrongly tagged at $449 as a trumpet, and so they didn't honour the trumpet price . It's still wrongly tagged at $1700 used, but the guy I was talking to is going to check into it.
There's a black one in town for $850. I don't have the funds yet, but I think I'll be on the lookout for one when I do. I'm borrowing a friends' Warwick Corvette Rockbass 4 and his Eden 115 for now, I have my Sansamp DI coming this weekend and I'm currently looking for a bass rig.
I guess I should introduce the backstory: my friend needed a bassist for a band he was hired to play in (then hired as manager), and since it's pop based I said let me take a crack at it. Paying gigs without getting screwed around .
I've been talking to Josh and Aaron (eleven59), checking out my options.
But damn, I want that bass something fierce!
They're awesome I've wanted one ever since I got into MXPX when I was a kid
I'd like to get a 5 string for recording sometime soon. A real EBMM is way over budget for me, but the new SBMM looks great
