    NBAD Mesa Style

Well, after 4 years with my trusty SVT3-PRO, it was time for a change, plus my VT Bass Deluxe pedal cops the Ampeg tones I'm really after.

Mesa/Boogie Carbine M6 - 600w at 4ohms. Can't get it above 0.01 on the master because I live in a complex and anything more than that would probably level the building. The Carbines are a modern sounding amp compared to the rest of the Mesa line - big, full, clean, and loud. Band practice tonight should be fun!!

Hell yeah my favorite bass amp. Can't wait to try the new prodigies though honestly I think I'll probably end up liking the m6 more.

Our old bassist had one of these. Excellent sounding amp, and loud as hell.

The perfect bait for someone to explain how "Bass watts" and "guitar watts" are different.

Its not that they are different. Low frequencies take more wattage to produce a decent volume so thats why bass amps are more powerful.

Additionally solid state takes more wattage because there is very little signal distortion and when it does distort it sounds nasty.

For example an SVT Classic is 300W and that is a clean wattage which is rated playing a signal and getting very little signal distortion at the output. but as everyone knows you dont run an SVT on 1 you turn it up and it gets gritty. This is because you now have alot more distortion upwards of 20-30% and you have a lot more wattage albeit not clean watts.

On the flip side you have an SVT-4 which has a 1200W solid state power amp and you dont want to make that thing distort because the resulting square wave will kill your speakers in a heartbeat. Solid state is designed to be clean throughout the power range.
