Everyone talking about Paganini, if you haven't seen Klaus Kinski's "Paganini" it's highly recommended viewing, and available on youtube in full. Written, directed, and starring the most insane ex-Nazi actor to ever walk the face of the earth. Full of the kind of vaguely disturbing erotic scenes somewhere between softcore and hardcore that only German film making can get away with. In fact the narrative is more functional as a sort of loose frame story for all the sex scenes.
Seriously though, it's one of the most accurate non documentary films about a classical composers life. Amadeus isn't an accurate portrayal of Mozarts life at all, in comparison "Paganini" paints a pretty accurate picture of the insane, sex crazed, syphilis ridden, madman Paganini was.
He was really the precursor to groupie banging shred lords of the 80s, only the difference is back in those days women put out a lot more. He played music that wasn't really that good in any way except being extremely technical (no one listens to Paganini for fun, he wasn't a great writer) to rail chicks, and organized religion hated him.
