I picked up some DDrum triggers and I'm looking to get a MIDI module to plug them into. I really don't need sound samples or anything like that. I just need a reliable module that minimizes cross talk and bad triggers. I really don't want to have to pay much more than 4 hundie if I don't have to. Mainly, i want to use the MIDI to open gates and such on the snare and kick tracks as well as possibly replacing some of the toms. I don't have the most optimal room for recording drums and I have cheap mics.
I looked at the DITI module from Alternate Mode but it seems a little more than i need. But it sounds like the Alesis DM5 is pretty solid. Any other suggestions?
In my experience DM5 is fine for this, you can pick them up ultra cheap second hand and they're sensitive enough to get things accurate. The sounds are pretty dated but if you don't need them then you're onto a winner.
