Using EMG's for the first time, and love them. It's the sort of aggressive bite I've been looking for for a very long time, and one I simply couldn't achieve with the BKP loaded 7620. But whether that was the wood or the pickups is still debatable, probably a touch of both!
Anyway, using an Engl sim VST through impulses for rhythms,
I really really like it actually. The cleans could use a bit more 'sparkle' (they've got that "EMG humbucker" clean sound) but I feel that way about a lot of metal clean tones. Since you've got time "in the studio," as it were, try a Fender amp sim and maybe a single-coil and see if you like that.
I feel like the lead during the bridge could 'cut' a little more as well. It feels a little buried right now. Maybe double-track it if possible?
Awesome stuff other than that!
