One of the things that I want to do with the Macbook is to bring it, along with my cheapo Line 6 Toneport on travel with me. A lot of times when I'm gone for weeks at a time, local music shops will rent me a guitar when I get there, which is pretty ace.
So my setup right now is simply:
Toneport --USB--> Macbook --> Reaper
With Gearbox running for the actual Pod tones. The problem I'm running into is that I can't hear myself playing while recording. I've troubleshot (is that a word?) this several times on a PC, but my desktop setup uses the output from the Toneport through monitors.
What I'm looking for is to be able to hear the guitar while recording through the laptop's internal sound card. If I record something and then play it back, it sounds as expected (effects from Gearbox, etc). There's just no sound coming through the laptop speakers while I'm actually playing/recording.
What am I missing? If I can get this working correctly, it'll be a real boredom-saver when I'm stuck out in places with nothing to do at night but drink beer and record.
i'm not sure what the actual problem is, but i'm gonna blame it on the line 6 shit because thats how i roll
