I'm in the market for a new interface and I've looked at the Mbox2.
Does anyone use it, pro's con's other stuff?
My budget is right in the ballpark of the mbox, so if there's other recommendations I'd appreciate it.
I've never worked with it before, but at $295, the one thing that jumped out at me immediately is it's kind of limited in what it can do. You get two channels at a time, true, but only one of them is a Mic input, the other is a Line level signal. If you're only recording one track at a time, no biggie, but if you want to record something with more than one mic you'll need an additional preamp.
Are you limited to USB, or do you have a Firewire card as well? If the former, for less money the M-Audio Fast Track Pro or Presonus Audiobox USB at a glance seem to offer more features for your money, and if not, a Presonus FP10 is only about $100 more, and would give you 8 independent mic inputs, which is a must if you ever intend to record a drummer (though, probably not worth the added expense if you don't).
