I finally acquired an interface (firestudio project ftmfw!), and i was fucking around with recording direct, and i managed to get some decent sound
Using only a boss compressor (turned most of the way down) and an RV5, running no modeling (mic style input on garageband), i got some acceptable quacky ass cleans like i like
its not much, but considering the only other piece of gear available to me was a big muff, id say i did alright
did this using the stock neck on my 540S
(listen to the track now )
So anyways, im on a decently tight budget here, dont have an amp, and want to start getting some recording shit thrown together, cause i havent tracked in... 4 years? Around that anyways. Im throwing together a rack over the next week or so here, so im looking for gear to stuff in it to help me out. Ive got a set of NT55s, an SM57, and a Sennheiser 977 or something to that effect (9xx with a 7 in it somewhere). Where would you start? Some sort of hideous digitech modeler a la 1-chris-loves-1-the -cock-01? i just need something to get some working tones with.
you coulda said you used (insert whatever) and fool people. That don't sound bad!
Now use only a distortion pedal instead and you got tr00 kvit
