Instead of record an album, how about we tackle something a little more bite-sized?
I was on the john earlier (where the best ideas occur to any self-respecting man) and I thought perhaps we could have a go at something like write and record a song in a day. Nothing fancy, doesn't have to have great production or creativity. Just whack out a song with very little thought going into it.
I don't know about you chaps, but I often spend a huge amount of time on any one song. Going back and forth to it, shelving it, and so on. Having a single day's limit could prove to be quite interesting.
It doesn't mean you can't revisit the song later and polish it up a bit, use it for your bands afterwards. But perhaps we could say something like, on Saturday 10 May we write, record and upload a song. Any style you want, as long or short as you want (within in reason; no John Cage-style efforts), vocals or not. On the Sunday, we could vote for the best effort. No prizes, no special incentive. Just purely for the creative challenge.
What do you say? I know it's another crack-pot idea at theming some sort of song writing competition. But it's a very manageable one.
I'd definitely be interested in this
