I figured out how to use my pod as a DI box despite the manual telling me I need an x3 to do it.
Anyways, what exactly would I need in terms of software to start reamping?
Right now I'm thinkin of using LePou's, "Lecto", amp sim with RedWirez or something else (feel free to suggest something else!).
After I record the dry guitar what do I do to process it? It looks like I need a separate program to apply the amp and impulses in my DAW (reaper)?
If anyone else wants to know how to use their pod xt as a DI box let me know and I'll post the video I found.
You can apply amp sims in your DAW program on the DI signal. There is a list of free ones on the Sneap forum. You can get some decent tones with them and many of them are modeled on some amps like rectocs, engls and the 5150. I'd suggest getting a handful and experimenting with them to find a chain you like. You just add them as a VST effect on the track in Reaper. Same goes with impulses, you apply them fully wet in your chain after the amp sim using a program like SIR 1 or lecab by Lepou.
This isn't really reamping though. Reamping is really when you record a DI and then send it back out to a real amp using a reamp box and record that signal.
