I'm in the middle of recording guitar tracks for a 5 song EP right now, and I really want some more botiquey amps than I have access to. I guess my game plan is to reamp half of the tracks through my Mesa, and have the other half reamped for me through a Fortin, or an ENGL, or a Diezel....something like that. Maybe also get some of my leads reamped into something different (Bogner would be nice
). Don't want to spend too much as we're doing this all on our own for a reason.....we're broke.
Songs will have quite a lot of guitar tracks.... I like to quad track by recording 2 (heavy) rhythm tracks and duplicating each of them once. Makes it sound HUGE and I really like that wall of crunch. I usually do 2 clean tracks with a 3rd "ambient" track lower in the mix, and then I do a lot of "switch off" type leads panning the leads slightly left and right and doing slightly different tones etc.
