Default Acoustic recording (test) with the 8Pre and small diaphragm condenser

Note: I'm trying to fix the media tags, bear with me.

Anyway, this is two tracks, one direct from the 12 string, and one of the condenser. I haven't touched levels, compression, etc, and it's late so I can't really do anything overly strummy, but imo this is pretty damn warm! I'm just half making something up so there's no real structure.

Same track, with the direct line panned 100% left, mic panned 100% right.

Thanks man!

The melody is from a track I wrote called Elegy that I'm hoping to finish now that I'm on the path of actually having decent acoustic tone.

Dude, that was awesome.

Fucking awesome.

Damn you, Quig. Now I need to get a 12-string. Nice fucking work. Sounds just terrific.

I dig the panned version more, BTW.

Technically, it's a "small diaphram condensor," not a "lipstick condensor."

But, condensors kick ass, don't they? Try sticking the SDC pointing at the 14th fret, mabe 4-6" back and aimed slightly above the bass side of the fretboard, and the LDC aimed either at the body of the guitar, a foot or two back and pointing a little below the soundhole near the end tailpin, or setting it at ear level over your picking hand sholder, pointing down at the body of the guitar, panning those two takes hard left and right, and running a direct out up the center, a little back. Should be about the lushest thing you've ever heard.

...then, double track it.

Sounds nice on my earbuds, I can't wait to hear it on a real set of speakers.

Sure it isn't backwards? Left channel sounds more like a mic to me...
