Seriously though, this is the first time i have gotten a truly satisfactory tone from the low D on my baritone. It's either been too floppy and powerless, or completely lifeless and dull, with a rod-like behaviour. These things keep up through all the strings, with the low D (.86 gauge string at 30" scale) sounding nice and bright like the rest of the strings, and the tension feeling perfect (and really nice and even between the strings.
I have two more string sets for two other guitars that i am excited to try out, and i have them on my bass. All the sets are made for drop tunings, with the gauges made to match the tension of the lowest string too.
Jesus that is low...
