So, the more I record, the more I want to start micing up my real amp, instead of using amp sims. I have a POD UX1, do you guys think I could use that with a sm57 to mic my 5150 and get good results?
I'm assuming with the UX1, I should not open pod farm when micing an amp?
Or should I get something like this to use, instead of using the UX1 to record an amp?
You should definitely try it out if you have the opportunity (I sadly can't get away with it where I live). You can certainly use the UX1's mic input. I've no experience with one, but its preamp can't be that terrible that it'll be impossible to get reasonable results with. It probably does perfectly fine at it.
I'd suggest try that, see how you like the results, and if you're not happy, it will inform what you're looking for in a new preamp/interface for your mic a little
