I'm replacing my POD X3 Live which I never use for anything but dry recording anyway with something that will give me better quality recordings and take less physical space.
I've been looking at the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2. It has 2 guitar inputs and outputs for headphones and monitors - pretty much what I need... From Thomann it's available for €144 including shipping, my kind of budget :-).
So - is it any good? Latency is important as I will be monitoring the amp sim signal from the computer when playing (direct monitoring on the device will just give me the dry signal, right?). I'm on Windows 7. Should I not buy something in this low segment and save up (a bit for) for something else?
Will the headphone output level be enough to properly drive my AKG 271s? (the laptop headphone jack is too weak).
All help appreciated!
Focusrite's instrument-ins are fantastic. I've been using them for a couple of years now and never felt the need to replace them or reach for a DI box. Go for it.
