Jesus, Donny really does read your mind. The way he came in sounded WAY too perfect.

I have a bunch of metal shit we did too. I just hit record, we jammed for 2 hours, and I'm picking through the cool stuff. I've been jamming with him since I was like 13, so we have a pretty good idea of what the other person is going for.

We're also a bit better when not loaded, but it's still a shitload of fun and it's just jamming, so who cares?

I have a drummer buddy who I can do the same thing with

We laugh whenever we jam. It can be years between jam sessions and we can still lock together perfectly and come up with cool shit.

Yeah, it's freakin' awesome that you can do this sort of thing late at night and get such amazing results. Sounds killer, man. Love your clean tone .

But more importantly, that song fucking rules! Tighten up those drums towards the end and this is just a fucking great composition. Absolutely killer composition. Please don't tell me that's all off the top of your heads. If that's what you do when drunk, you need to become a raging alcoholic, like Mary Swanson, 10 in the morning style.

Here's another clip. This is the acoustic preamp of my Martin direct into the Axe-Fx, so the guitar tone is shit, but again who the hell cares? Jamming is just about having a good time with your friends!

Yeah, that's all improv. Thank you dude, we just make it up as we go along.

I honestly couldn't stand up when I recorded these. Another great thing about jamming and drinking with old friends.

That's very impressive, especially if you were both half cut! With the exception of when the drummer goes a little 'free-time Vinnie Paul', it sounds like you're both really locked in with where it's going. I guess that's from playing together for so long. Killer stuff.

I could have fixed the Vinnie Paul part, but I left it in there for the sole purpose of busting his balls about it later. Lord knows I have plenty of screw-ups, it's nice to have a section where he's the one playing the slop, haha.

The great thing about the vKit is that if I was keeping any of this, I could go in later and build a really great sounding kit for the track, even doing stuff like switching to a tighter snare for the faster bits and something more neutral for the slow bits - etc, etc. This is all just Metal Machine, which doesn't really fit on the clean stuff. You can't do that with acoustic drums, ya know?

I like both tracks. It sounds like good music for kicking back and drinking a few.
