So, I was out shopping with the wife yesterday because she needed a new laptop. While we where at Best Buy, I checked out what they had to offer & started thinking about a portable laptop to use as a mobile solution to recording. Of course, I'm JUST getting into computer recording in the last few months. I have a small setup for my desktop computer at home.
I figured this would be a good thread on what people thought were the basic requirements of a suitable recording laptop.
HARD DRIVE SPACE requirements
FEATURES (ex: inputs / outputs, whatever else)
PC OR MAC
BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK
WHATEVER ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF.....
Price point is essential.
RAM: Most you can afford
HD: Space: You can get away with a 120/250GB SSD if you offload what you aren't working on to an external drive. Otherwise 1TB at least.
Features: At least FW800
PC or Mac: You know the answer to this one.
Monitor size: Bigger the better obviously
Best bang for the buck: Depends on how many bucks.
