I'm not sure how many other folks here have MOTU stuff, but hopefully someone knows what I'm missing here.
I'm trying to setup the VRM, which has an S/PDIF input and a USB input, to use the S/PDIF and lock with the 828, so that instead of it's signal coming over USB it gets it's main signal from the S/PDIF output on the MOTU.
I have it cabled up, and I do get S/PDIF lock when I'm playing back in Reaper (or itunes, etc). Looking in CueMix, I see the Main Out 1-2 volume meters bouncing, and I get sound from my monitors.
However when I flip the Output over to S/PDIF, I get no sound (through the VRM) and the meters are flat. I'm assuming it's just that the 828 isn't routing the signal to the S/PDIF output, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to enable it.
What I'm trying to accomplish is to not have to use an Aggregate device for my output to get signal to my monitors and the VRM at the same time. This should be pretty straightforward - as though I had a DAT or something hanging off the S/PDIF or any other outboard recorder, but CueMix doesn't seem to have a routing panel that I can find.
I should also note - this DOES work if I set it up via USB as an Aggregate device in Reaper, like so:
But I'd like to use the 828 for everything (and honestly, just understand why I can't get an S/PDIF signal out of it).
