The hard part about making super melodic solos in this song is that the solo is about 15 seconds long with 10 chord changes total. I was careful to make sure that everything resolved to chord tones, but perhaps it was just too much going by too fast.
The other issue with the backing track is that it pretty much linearly goes up through the chords. Even when it drops down, it just drops down an octave of what the next linear chord would be, at least for the most part. That makes it that each chord does not have a common tone with the next, hence the more arpeggio-laden approach.
I guess I can slow it down and use more of a harmonic approach, as the first and third chord would share the same arpeggio if the first, second, and third are all diatonically linear. I'll give it another shot.
