That there track he did done posted the other day with that there vidya.
Guitar chain was thus: Pro 40 > Little Labs RedEye > Peavey 6534+ (left side boosted, right side unboosted) and ENGL Savage 120 (same DI's reamped then phase-flipped and blended with the Peavey) > Marshall 1960DM > Sm57 > mutli-band comp > hp/lp > limiter
After initially just re-amping with the 6534+, we were decided that it was a little too scooped and generally a bit too metal for the style (and for the guitar itself, really). I had originally planned to re-do the reamps but use the an Audix i5, blend in with the existing Sm57 reamps, as the i5 has a nice squishy midrange that I thought would fill in the blanks quite nicely.
However, it didn't. It was bloaty and bulbous and sounded like shitty fuck. I keep giving that mic chance after chance but I never actually end up using it on any final mixes where guitars are concerned. Snares and acoustic is where that fucker is gonna stay from now on...
So anyway, the Savage, which I have swapped for the Triple Rec with Ryan for a bit, has an absolutely killer midrange, so I figured I'd do another couple of tracks with that and see where it ends up.
I think the blend worked really well. It's got the nice punchy mid of the Engl, with the roar and weight of the Peavey.
Leads were all 6534+, same signal chain, but on the green (crunch) channel, heavily boosted with OD808. Lots of nice mids and punch.
Drums are metal machine for the most part, kick replaced with an LSD sample. Bass is a whole fuckload of shit. Generally speaking 1 track with an amp sim, 1 track a compressed DI, 1 track distorted, all blended and smashed to fuck. I will go into more detail if need be but right now I'm all out of words.
Well, that sounds fantastic.
