I have a cable to go from my amp's "record out" output into my sound card. It works. But the only software I have right now won't let me record individual tracks, so I can really only record myself playing. But when I do this, my amp's speaker shuts off, and the sound doesn't come out my computer speakers, either. So I can't actually hear myself until I play it back. Obviously this is less than ideal.
Basically what I'm looking to do is be able to play an .mp3 backing track through my computer speakers, and then record myself soloing over that, and also hear myself playing at the same time, and then ideally be able to adjust the volume of that track separately in case it recorded too loud or too quietly.
I have a cable splitter so I can go from my amp into my sound card and also into headphones so I can at least hear myself, but I'd prefer to hear everything from the computer speakers, especially since I can't get the background track .mp3 to come out the headphones that are connected to the amp.
Does what I'm looking for exist?
