Sorry for the bewilderment of new threads lately.
I read on several places they all recommend recording to an external 7200RPM drive so your audio and sessions are recorded somewhere other than your main OS drive where your OS (obviously) is as well as your DAW program and plugins. My question is this - how important is it to really record to an external hard drive? Do people do it just for convenience rather than a real need?
Also, if recording to an external drive, what is the minimum recommended connection? USB 2.0, Firewire, USB 3.0?
I'm very dubious of any benefits to recording to any external thats not USB3. Transfer rates are too low.
2nd drive should be used, and should be internal. Its faster, and lower wear on both drives.
