When I'm recording fast power chord riffs that move around a lot and quite rapidly (ala Cryptopsy) i cant seem to get rid of the annoying high pitched string slide noise.
Is this just a technique thing? a lot of these riffs i hear recorded are sliding (you can hear it sliding) but without that annoying noise. Is there a simple way to get rid of them or do i just need to man up and play better - if so what am i doing wrong?
I can play fairly fast(ish) when it comes to death metal rhythm but these annoying noises always piss me off.
I would try some GHS Fast Fret on your strings before recording, that may help it. Also, if you can (depending on what's being played) lift you fingers off the strings in between the chords/riffs.
