Anyone own/recorded with both and have any input as to the difference?
I'm looking into picking up a couple more mics, and I can't really justify a 421 right now. But for ~$150 the 57 Beta is something that I don't already have. I'm just not sure if it'd be all that different than using just a pair of 57s (which I have) or a 57 and an i5 (which I also have).
This is what I'm talking about:

I'd stick with the standard 57, personally. Known track record and between that and the i5 all you need is a nice condensor a bit further from the cab for 'room sound'.
The beta stuff IIRC uses neodymium magnets and was originally designed for radio work. They are solid and dependable, but I've never been unhappy with a 57.
