killer work! drums seem kinda loud. though i'm only listening on lap top speakers so take that for what it is. i hear some brutal speed picking but the drums are kinda stomping on the guitars. Maybe it's a combo of drum volume and gain levels on the amps? Just my opinion of course, but speaking to the opposite end of the sonic spectrum, I've always thought King of All Kings had a weak drum sound, compared to what everybody else is doing out there (it was a let down at first because i wanted to hear Derek Roddy slay the kit) but the drums were still audible. I now feel that their modest sound allowed for a clarity that's needed for the guitars to shine. It's almost necessary. a dynamic recording by being quiet, not dimed out. when you have this imbalance, it often masks the fact that the guitar players are working just as hard as these super human drummers. Nile is pretty good at keeping the drums in check too. Error on drums that are too quiet rather than too loud. Their percussive nature means they'll still always be heard.
EDIT - Internecine, book of lambs. another example of a modest drum sound as far as volume and low-end goes.... but allows for a super clear recording.
