So I'm finally going to try and start this thing I've been wanting to do for a few years now. I want a really really ultra-simple recording set up. All I would ever use it for is making super simple song demos (just vocals and a couple of acoustic guitar tracks) and really disgusting sounding black metal. I don't have any interest in learning a "big boy" DAW or futzing with all of the really complicated recording stuff. I essentially want to the modern day equivalent of those crappy 4-track recorders I'm sure we all had at one point. Maybe like a more PC-friendly Garage Band. I'm also dirt poor (yay grad school) so I want this to be fairly affordable as well.
I know it's not going to sound awesome, but it's mainly just for my own enjoyment and playing around with. What would you all buy if you were in my shoes?
Focusrite 2i2, SM57, Reaper.
Although, my guitarist has one of those little stereo Zoom recorders and it does a half-decent job of picking up our band rehearsals.
