Also a wee snippet of a track from a demo I'm working on for a new band I've started!
So yeah I've been pretty 'meh' about my cab lately in a studio context, which is a daunting position to be in when you're offering reamping as a service I was wrestling with it quite a bit and not ever really being satisfied with the end result.
In a last ditch effort I tried some various things. One of which was the Fredman technique, which yielded better results than previous reamps, but what seemed to work best was to mic two different speakers - both of which having good and bad qualities.
That clip is just the two smashed together, no EQ besides a normal hp/lp.
Really happy with how it came out. The top left speaker has all the honk, but with not much bite, and then loads of horrible useless fizz around 6k (which you can hear). Whilst the bottom right speaker is very aggressive sounding, naturally scooped, and with a nice airy upper-mid quality.
EDIT: Eq'd it now. Much better.
