I am in the process of re-recording my scratch tracks for some songs I wrote and I have run into a problem. I have a schecter damien 7 with EMG hz in them. But the damn thing is giving off excess noise higher up around 2K. The guitar is failry new, ~ 1 year old. When i plug in my 10 year+ old bc rich warlock platinum with stock pickups the noise drop considerably. Ive tried other guitars too and the noise is much less than the schecter. Also if I move my schecter around the noise increase or descreases slightly depending where I move/point it. If i point the pickups toward the floor, the noise is almost gone. But kind hard to play like that lol.
Now could this be the EMG hz pickups? Are they known to cause more noise than usual? I know the are lesser quality. Or could it be bad shielding? Anyone can shed any light on this for me would be awesome. I also sweat ALOT on my hands could this simply be sweat/grind build up on volume/tone pot?
Thanks in advance guys!
First thing to check - how old is the battery?
