I picked up a M-Audio Two-Channel USB Audio/MIDI Interface at Futureshop for $100 ( go figure..they sell guitars, amps and assorted gear now), anyway
I want to get a set of monitors for it. I'm on a budget and cant spend much more than $200, so I was wondering of any of you guys who use VST software can tell me which might be the best of the following choices
M-Audio Studiophile Bookshelf Speaker (these ones seem like they might be for normal music playback..)
Hercules XPS 2.0 80 DJ Monitor (XPS 2.0 80 DJ)
Samson MediaOne 2-Way 5" Active Bluetooth Monitor Speakers (MBT5)
I'm not even sure if I need to have a pair...can i get away with 1? There are a few others in my price range that are sold as a single monitor. I'm a total noob when it comes to interfacing a guitar to the computer so I really dont know what I should be looking for. Any help or advice would be really appreciated.
I can't help with recommendations (although KRK Rokits seem popular on the lower price end), but I can tell you I wouldn't be looking at any of the ones you listed.
And, whilst you can get away with just one, there's absolutely no reason to. You'll be listening to just the left or right side of a stereo mix on all mp3s you play, and you'll be forced to record/mix in mono.
