Hi guys, I hope this is the right subforum.
I'm in a band right now called KOMIK, and most of our debut album has been finished. I've completed most of the album art, completed all the guitar tracks, written all the lyrics, and the bass is about half way finished. All that needs to be done now is get my friend to add the vocals and for the rest of the band to add backing vocals.
But I still don't know how to release this album. Right now, Band Camp seems to be the best option but I was just wondering if anyone here knows of better options and also if anyone knows a CD printing service that prints smaller presses, like less than 200 copies. Thanks.
Heh. I sort of HAVE to be the first person to reply here, don't i?
There are plenty of companies that will do small batches of CDs, but my sense is 200 does seem to be the cutoff below which it's not even close to cost-effective. It's also relatively easy to get your music on iTunes, which has a much larger audience than BandCamp - if you're trying to "make it" then focusing all potential customers to a single distribution channel makes sense, but if you don't care how you chart on BandCamp or iTunes then by all means, go with the shotgun approach.
